CASTANHAS AINDA NA ÁRVORE - CHESTNUTS STILL IN TREE

As castanhas começaram a espreitar em Outubro, nos frondosos castanheiros.

O castanheiro (castanea sativa) é uma árvore muito comum no centro e norte de Portugal.
O fruto do castanheiro tem um formato curioso semelhante a um ouriço e no seu interior encerra as castanhas.

Até ao século XVII a castanha era base da alimentção em Portugal. É consumida cozida, assada ou utilizada na doçaria regional. 

A 11 de  Novembro comemora-se o dia de S.Martinho uma celebração de Outono onde a castanha é rainha . Diz o ditado - lume,castanha e vinho.

The nuts began to peeking in October, in leafy chestnut trees.

The chestnut (castanea sativa) is a very common tree in the center and north of Portugal.
The fruit of the chestnut has a curiously shaped like a hedgehog and its interior contains nuts.

By the seventeenth century the chestnut was the food base in Portugal. It is eaten boiled, roasted or used in regional sweets. 

On November 11 is celebrated the day of S.Martinho one fall celebration where the nuts are the queen. The saying goes - fire, chestnuts and wine.

PRAIA CARCAVELOS/CASCAIS - CARCAVELOS BEACH/CASCAIS

O céu está cinzento, a chuva parou e eu vou partilhar o almoço romântico que fiz há alguns dias.
 
Fomos  a uma agradável pizzaria que tem uma esplanada bem junto do areal. A comida estava  óptima, a companhia muito desejada, a brisa do mar e  o sol envolvente fez-me sentir como amo viver!
 
A praia de Carcavelos tem um extenso areal e  pertence à Costa do Estoril, perto de Cascais. É a primeira praia oceânica após a foz do rio Tejo.
 
Desde os anos 50, esta  praia  no dia do Ano Novo é palco do tradicional  banho de Inverno. 
 
É uma praia muito amada pelos surfistas, por nela se formar uma onda tubular  rápida.
 
A bela paisagem é dominada pelo imponente Forte de S.Julião da Barra, considerado como a maior construção de defesa marítima existente em Portugal. A sua construção foi iniciada no século XVI.

The sky is gray, the rain stopped and I'll share a romantic lunch I made a few days ago.

We went to a pizza place that has a nice terrace right next to the beach. The food was great, the company very desirable, the sea breeze and the surrounding sun made me  feel like love living!

The Carcavelos beach has a long sandy and belongs to the Estoril coast, near Cascais. It is the first ocean beach after the mouth of the river Tagus.

Since the 50s, this beach on New Year's Day, is the  stage of the traditional Winter bath.

This beach is much loved by surfers, because of the fast tubular waves.

The beautiful landscape is dominated by the imposing Fort S.Julião da Barra, regarded as the greatest maritime defense construction in Portugal. Its construction began in the sixteenth century.

15º DESAFIO CLUBINHO DA COSTURA - Projecto Dia das Crianças - 15º CLUBINHO DA COSTURA CHALLENGE -Children's Day Project

Mais um divertido desafio do Clubinho de Costura agora dedicado ao Dia da Criança!
Em Portugal é comemorado a 1 de Junho, mas na verdade todos os dias devem ser Dia da Criança.

Assim desejo a todas as crianças , esses seres adoráveis que enchem a nossa vida de alegria, dias muito felizes!

Alterei o modelo sugerido para permitir maior capacidade de arrumação. Inclui também espaço para borracha, apara-lápis e caneta. De lado tem um sistema de atilho no botão para juntar as duas partes. 

Algumas folhas caídas  de árvores da minha rua e alguns malmequeres amarelos serviram para adornar as fotos.

Another fun challenge Clubinho de Costura (Clubhouse Sewing) now dedicated to Children's Day!

In Portugal it is celebrated on June 1, but in fact every day should be Children's Day.

So I wish all children, these adorable creatures that fill our lives with joy, really happy days!

I changed the suggested model to allow greater storage capacity. Includes also space for rubber, pencil sharpener and pen. From the sides it has a system to tie the button, to join the two parts.

Some fallen leaves of trees of my street and some yellow little daisies were used to adorn the pictures.
